RE: BRIDGEPOINT HEALTH CENTRE sacrifices perfect housing opportunity.

Dear Mr Layton and Ms Churley,

You should be made aware that a very good plan which both of you sponsored for the redevelopment of Riverdale Hospital has been discarded in favour of a new and inferior plan that calls for demolition of a structurally-sound, architecturally significant building on City land that could and should be a co-op, or non-profit housing as it becomes redundant as a medical facility.

In a complete and surprising turn Bridgepoint Health's new plan developed by Prism Partners Inc and Urban Strategies Inc, also treats the Old Don Jail with great insensitivity. In the plan you both endorsed the Old Jail was a stand-alone building. In the Prism Partners/Urban Strategies plan the entire rear elevation will be hung with a modern hospital atrium. This unacceptable for a site of National significance.

Is it possible for you to address the problems of this new plan? I've noted that neither of your names has been associated with it. It proceeds to City Council on January 17th, 2006.

Sincerely,
Steve Russell, VP
